School UpdatesExams A reminder that Diploma exams begin tomorrow and that there are strict protocols in place to ensure exams are written without contraventions. Students are encouraged to be at the school for 8:45am so they can receive instructions and ensure they are fully prepared for their exam. There will be no regular classes on these days, but teachers may invite students in for credit recovery opportunities.
Football Program For the past few years, we have been able to provide a football program to our students through the massive efforts of a handful of staff and dedication of a core group of athletes. This past season we were forced to forfeit a couple of games due to athletes quitting and injuries. We are at a point where we are having to make some tough decisions around the viability of offering football at Nelson Mandela High School moving forward. At this time, we are wondering if there are any members of our school community that would consider helping out as coaches for the next football season? If interested, please contact Lucas Corvino at lrcorvino@cbe.ab.ca for more information about what this would entail.
Personal Devices in the Classroom Students and families are reminded student use of personal devices in the classroom is only allowed under the explicit instruction of the teacher and to support student learning. We have learned more how this policy plays out in the classroom and teachers will be asked to ensure students are complying with the provincial policy in Semester Two. This means cellphones and earbuds are away during instructional time. |
