School Updates

Final Few Weeks

As we enter the final few weeks of classes, we want to remind students and families that general expectations remain. At this time of year, we tend to see more students gathering in the hallways, parking lot and the Genesis Centre. Let’s all finish the year in a positive way and ensure we are making good decisions. Two nearby schools have made the decision to no longer provide student parking, we are not there yet and will not have to get there if students are where they are supposed to be, in class.

Another reminder that water pistols, chalk paint, silly string should all be left at home and not brought to school.

Graduation Celebrations

A reminder that we have our Graduation celebrations this week. Thursday morning, we will be hosting the ceremony at the University of Calgary in the morning. We provide every Grade 12 student the opportunity to be recognized during this ceremony and a High School Diploma is only awarded by Alberta Education when all requirements are complete following Diplomas.

A reminder that any artificial noise makers need to be left at home (Airhorns, Cowbells, etc...) These will be confiscated by University or School staff.

Our Graduation Banquet will be held on Friday evening at the Astoria Banquet Hall. Tickets need to have already been purchased and only approved guests may attend.

We are thrilled to invite you to Nelson Mandela High School’s 2025 Summer stARTS Festival, a week-long celebration of student creativity across the Fine and Performing Arts, from June 2–5.
